PART TWO: THE CHASM OF NO RETURN. On their last night in Midgard, the realm of humans, the Viking family see wonderful lights in the sky - a flight of Valkyries. One of these so-called handmaidens of Odin, hovers over their campfire. All are in awe at her consummate beauty. The following day the family cross the Chasm of No Return and enter the Land of the Giants - Jotunheim. Forced to stay with a fat giantess, they fear being eaten by her daughter's enormous dog. Then on the second day they claim hospitality at the fortress of Igar Lord of the Marshes. No sooner have they arrived then there is an attack by the legendary Dawnkillers. Thorkel attempts to kill one and is invited to Igar's Court as a result. Igar promises to lead him to Mimir's Well but during the night Thorkel makes a horrifying discovery that puts the lives of all of them in great danger...
