'Beka Lamb ' in CSEC Literature

There are many good reasons why literature may not stop the pain of living, but it helps. However, it’s not just about ourselves, but about others
in different times, places and cultures. By reading and re-reading we learn to form opinions about what we read and to compare our opinion with what we think the writer intended. Beka Lamb, one of the novels on the previous cycle of CSEC Literature texts, is set in Belize during the 1950’s when the country was becoming more politically aware and many persons were agitating for Independence. This study looks at the background to the novel, gives helpful guides to a study of the novel and provides useful comparisons with other novels on the CSEC literature syllabus.
