After failing, time and again, to make a profit doing what other people were selling or betting other people’s picks, I decided I would have to come up with something on my own. I began studying horses and their past performances in earnest. I puzzled over of the next winner of the next race. I developed this approach about 12 years ago and have spent the years since observing empirical data. Every day I still consider making little tweaks. But the core of my approach remains constant.
