Text is in German and English, with the German translations in some instances a bit different from the English, at the author's direction.This is McBride's autobiography up to the late 1970s, about the time he was coming to terms with his homosexuality. He tells his story with text, reproductions of his personal letters and other documents, and of course photos. He reproduces here some of his better-known work, including individual photos and large thumbnails of Zeig Mal! and Twen projects. Throughout it he maintains the romantic idealism that marked his coverage and participation in the youth counterculture movement of the 1960s-70s in Europe. The Show Me/Zeig Mal! controversy -- a censorship episode involving the child sex education book he worked on -- remains bewildering to him, and probably many others.
