Description

To some, nothing is greater. “It's an energy field created by all living things,” with “the ability to destroy a planet.” While to others, it’s “a hokey religion” and “a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.” The concept made famous in the Star Wars saga (described in this way by Obi-Wan, Darth Vader and Han Solo) is just as controversial and popular today as it was thirty years ago and 3000 years ago. This same inherent energy has been applied throughout history, both to heal and harm. From its origins predating Qigong and Tai Chi, through Kung-fu (wushu) Iaido, Aikido, and Yoga, the Force has had many names.

The beginning chapters cover the Force as it relates to the blockbuster movies that made it so popular, but then deviate to explain the history and early applications. The process of how energy interacts with matter is explained in detail, and then dozens of exercises are illustrated and explained for how to tap this other-worldly power. The book examines the concept of the Force as it applies to daily life, but also from the standpoint of its martial origins.

About the Author:

G. J. Carr is a martial arts instructor who holds the rank of fourth degree black belt in “the way of harmonizing with energy” and has studied energy and energy practices for thirty years. His experience includes Judo, Jujitsu, Iaido, Aikido and Karate, as well as arrest and control tactics for law enforcement. Over the years, he became interested in the differences between the casual practitioner and the exceptional few who have an elusive, magical ability. Described as “the substance behind the forms” he sought to discover and teach it, not solely as a martial skill but as a way of living and nurturing the human spirit.
