Description

Volcanoes. Earthquakes. Tornadoes. Whether on paper or on celluloid, every conceivable natural disaster has taken a turn in the spotlight, mesmerizing people with their power, beauty, and danger.

Except one.

Whirlpools form in the open sea as enormous vortices, whose intense rotational forces can devour ships and sea creatures, even whales. Although Homer, Jules Verne, and Herman Melville included whirlpools in their stories, this real-life terror remains seldom studied and deeply enshrouded in myth.

In the novel WHIRLPOOL, a team of eight scientists races to study a giant whirlpool that has sprouted near a remote tropical island. Although the expedition begins smoothly, the scientists soon encounter the dark side of Mother Nature. With the arrival of a Pacific typhoon, storm and whirlpool form a destructive combination that turns the expedition into a battle against Nature's fury. As the casualties mount, the chances of survival spiral toward certain death…
