In the 1970s, as a young writer hungering for experience, Walters journeyed from Sri Lanka through India and into the Himalayas in Nepal. He encountered many young people who, instead of finding the answers they sought, were shattered by the realities of the East. Finally, near-penniless and alone, high in the mountains, he was confronted with a life-changing choice.
