M.L. Vasanthakumari

Sangita Kalanidhi M.L. Vasanthakumari (1928 - 1990) was one of three prominent 20th century women vocalists who took the world of Carnatic music by storm with the quality of their music. The prime disciple of the charismatic G.N. Balasubramaniam, MLV was not only a torchbearer of the GNB bani, but a compleat musician in her own right. Her rich repertoire included the compositions of Purandaradasa that bore her special stamp, and brilliant all-round skills marked by feeling as much as virtuosity.
