Description
Cpl Landers goes to France where he is to kill General Leutnant Karl Freiherr von Habel. The general is to take command of the Free Zone of southern France in November, 1942. His assassination is an important part of Operation Torch - the Allied invasion of French Northern Africa.
Before he leaves England, Landers is followed and almost betrayed by a young British officer, duped into working for a traitor within the Commando. He is left to deal with the situation one on one at 10,000 feet, when he parachutes into France.
While on the ground, he must infiltrate the general's estate and scout out an area to take the shot without being detected. He barely escapes discovery by sentries on the main road.
While in France, Landers must stay hidden, but the situation is tense. La Malice - the French police working for the Germans - come for his Resistance contact, Rene, and must be eliminated.
Even after his assignment is finished, there's still more mystery. Landers discovers how close he came to capture and how his actions prior to leaving for France flushed out a highly placed spy working within the Commando.
