SCOPE.
a. Type of Manual: Operator’s manual.

b. Model Number and Equipment Name: M231 firing port 5.56-mm submachine gun (firing port weapon).

c. Purpose of Equipment: To provide personnel inside vehicle a suppressive fire capability while in the mounted role. Weapon can be removed for field use under combat emergency conditions. The weapon is not authorized for off-vehicle use during training.
