IDC's Worldwide IT Spending Taxonomy, 2011: The Black Book Handbook

This IDC study outlines IDC's IT market taxonomy for IDC's 2011 Worldwide Black Book. It includes detailed methodologies for each of the major market segments included in the Black Book, along with detailed category definitions. It provides a summary of the Black Book methodology, in which capacity it is intended for use as a handbook for the Black Book.

For 2010, notable changes include the addition of tablets and ereaders, and smartphones have replaced converged mobile devices.

"The Black Book handbook represents our combined efforts across the global organization to maintain a cohesive and up-to-date taxonomy for IDC's IT spending forecasts," said Akia Ramsay, senior research analyst, Worldwide IT Markets and Strategies. "The 2010 edition makes key adjustments to the taxonomy consistent with IDC's vision of the current IT market landscape."
