Providing unique insight into the Goth genre, this imaginative and inspirational resource is packed full of information, expert tips, and step-by-step projects. Teaching aspiring illustrators how to draw powerful Gothic images inspired by the poetry, art, and fantasies associated with the Goth scene, this collection begins with a comprehensive guide to materials—such as how to invest wisely in quality pencils, the ins and outs of using colored pencils, and selecting the right color and texture of a drawing surface—and basic techniques such as shading, creating texture, working with light, and determining perspective. A special section focuses on working exclusively with black. Early chapters focus on universal figure drawing and portraiture techniques, while later chapters examine drawing Goth-specific fonts and symbols, designing Gothic jewelry, costume design, and landscapes.
