Hi! I'm Sophie, and I'm 8 years old. I love my family, Jesus, and my pet rabbit. But sometimes I think it's hard being the youngest in the family. Maybe the others don't always take me seriously, or maybe they get upset when I forget things (like my math homework!).
I used to feel bad about that, but then one day my Sunday School teacher told me the story of Rhoda, a girl from the Bible who sounds like she was living my life! Rhoda's story made me think maybe I could look at things differently.
Now, can I convince my family to look at me differently too?

Sophie's story will resonate with any child who's struggled with remembering, paying attention to schoolwork when what's around her is so much more interesting, and with trying to do what's right.
The story is an early chapter book, a la Junie B. Jones, with a Christian perspective. Sophie is a witty, gentle, and caring heroine who children will relate to. Perfect for ages 6 to 9.

How refreshing to encounter a stable family unit, not perfect, but supportive; children that obey their parents without bad attitudes, deceit or manipulation; parents who take the time to love and discipline their children appropriately; and teachers that teach children rather than subjects. I especially appreciated the way the girl’s faith was handled, as a natural part of her life, with Scripture being a viable way to learn and grow. All this in a delightful story, perfect for beginning readers as well as those who enjoy being read to.

I have been a long-time advocate for Christian children’s fiction written for this age group… so it’s refreshing to see another book geared toward this particular audience. Plus the story has a good takeaway value without being preachy.
