Glowing fairies and green-skinned mermaids—Kora has made synthetic versions of just about everything. But never vampires, nasty things. That’s where Kora draws the line. Every day another rich weirdo places an order for a sexy vampire but Kora holds firm: vampires belong in movies, not the real world.

Ten years ago, Kora woke up in the harsh fluorescent glare of a laboratory at Mirafeld with no memory of who she was or where she came from, and no explanation for her unique talent for building synthetic beings. Mirafeld CEO Randall Williams put her to work right away and life at the top of her field was good until Randall proposed and put her in a tailspin.

Now, a week before her wedding, Randall has assigned Kora to one final project before she becomes his wife. She must travel to her forgotten childhood home to perform the world's first transfer of a human brain into a synthetic body. The recipient of this groundbreaking operation is none other than Kora's long-lost mother, the synthetic science pioneer, Ruby Lazar, who is dying of old age.

The terrible twist? Bat-crazy Ruby wants her new synthetic body to be that of an immortal, blood-drinking vampire, sharp teeth and all. Ruby longs for the love of her beautiful boy-toy, Vaughn, her pet synthetic vampire who avoids her like the plague.

Kora soon finds herself neck deep in vampires and though she hates the dangerous creatures, it isn't long before she's drawn in by Vaughn's allure. Can Kora complete this project and return to the sanity of her wedded life at Mirafield or is she on a downward slide into the hell of her dark past?
