📖 Description
In May 1937 when the German airship Hindenburg crashed to the ground in flames the exact cause was never defined - but imagine YOU had been there!
In Susan Pope's atmospheric story, a mix of fact and fiction, modern RAF war hero Jonno Amis, relives the life of airship mechanic Karl Stockhausen in the 1930's. Jonno witnesses the construction of the Hindenburg and experiences Karl's desperate efforts to smuggle his Jewish fiancee Elizabeth out of Nazi Germany.
Jonno also falls in love, spinning his life into turmoil. In 2000, as he faces the loss of his career, his lover, and his sanity, he joins a modern airship project. The present becomes a mirror to the past and Jonno must turn the past-life memories full circle to answer many questions.
Are his new love Lisa and Elizabeth the same person? Why is the mad Nazi officer still shadowing him? Can the Hindenburg mystery finally be revealed?
As you travel with Jonno on a double mission of life and death, love and betrayal, you will soar above the clouds in the largest form of air transport ever devised by man... ...Lighter than air - poetry in flight. A debut novel full of promise.
