On the occasion of the sequicentennial of Jose Rizal's birth, Anvil Publishing presents, in its own humble way, a reminder that he is not just a name for products or services, nor for our streets, build blocks, schools , towns, or family and friends, but a name that evokes nation and freedom, sacrifice and hope. In this collection, we have gathered works--in words and in images--that celebrate the life and works of Jose Rizal through the eyes of both seasoned and young writers and artists. This anthology hopes to re-acquaint us with our national hero and re-ignite in us the same compassion and commitment he had as a young man, and make us serously consider how we can help carry out today for our country the things he spoke fervently about. We hope these select works will spawn more collections in the near future, sesquicentennial or not, and gift coming generations with ways to remember Rizal always and to pay forward the lessons that Rizal's life has taught us.
