The Carnivals of Trinidad and Tobago, From Inception to the Year 2000

In 1989 the book PARADE OF THE CARNIVALS was published by this author in order to mark the 150th anniversary of the Carnival of the Streets. For it will be remembers that the first Carnival of the Streets took place in 1839, following the abolition of slavery on August 1st, 1838. It was limited edition and soon went out of print. The present book, called THE CARNIVALS OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, gives the story of the emergence of the steelband in the carnivals of Trinidad and indeed gives a history of its life and its very vibrant times from our jour ourvert of its inception (1935) up to the year 2000.
