Azad Jammu & Kashmir Elections 2011

This report presents a general overview of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections held on 26 June 2011. The information laid down here was collected by Press for Peace (PFP) elections monitoring team based in Muzaffarabad. The PFP acknowledges wholehearted support of a number of people from different segments of society. The background information on traditional democratic culture in Azad Kashmir, ethnic composition of voters, some of the key facts about administrative setup and local governmental arrangements have also been discussed before going through the electoral activity. A brief narrative of legal framework under which the elections are held in the State is aimed at highlighting human rights aspect of the constitutional structure.
