SharePoint 2010 Site Creation (SharePoint 2010 JumpStart)

SharePoint provides a GUI utility called “Central Administration”. This utility enables administrator to perform functions related to application management, system settings, monitoring, backup and restore, security, upgrade etc. SharePoint as mentioned earlier used to create internet/intranet/extranet portals central administration utility enables to do so.
SharePoint as a product provide various inbuilt templates with varied features to create portals easily. The two templates majorly used are
1. Team Site: This template is primarily used for intranet and collaboration portals.
2. Publishing Site: This template is used to create internet portals.
After installation, internet/intranet/extranet Portal or application is created using the utility “central administration”. This chapter appraises the users about the steps to create the portal.
