Description
Little known today, but the War in South Russia was called, Churchill's War to stamp out the virus called Bolshevism or known later as Communism from 1918-20. The British spent millions of dollars in South Russian to develop, arm, and train General Denikin's White Army who were marching onto Moscow and gathering steam. Over 200 British military advisors were sent and over 60 tanks. British crews were forbidden in participating in combat, yet, many did in the RAF and in tanks. It was a British tank crew that entered Stalingrad in 1919 causing an evacuation by its young commander, Lenin! The RAF 47th Squadron descended on Red forces with ruthlessness. Eventually, the White Army with British training and equipment came to within 200 miles of Moscow at Orel and Kursk. British advisors were there also. A fascinating piece of history that almost stopped communism at its birth!
