Description

A Heart of Glass

Spoilt young Enzo Camino is the bane of LAPD Hollywood and Vine Precinct Police Officers lives, he has it all, fast car, pretty girl, indulgent father, money and he knows it.

As they say, pride comes before a fall and is he ever in line for a fall! What starts out as a spot of infidelity, escalates, a hit and run incident leaves a real can of worms that Medusa like, will entrap the young Enzo in a tragedy of Greco proportions. This is where Detectives 1200 Dave Dreyja and 711 Rico Brenham get involved... A fast and pacy short story based on a true incident.

LAPD Detective 1200 Dave Dreyja works the Open Case Unit Detail out of Santa Monica with Detective 711 Rico Brenham and Lt. Dan Wilberforce investigating old open cases, where new information or evidence comes to. But Dredge is still a Cop, and he has the obligation to respond to crime.

They call Dave Dreyja ‘Dredge,’ because no one ever gets his name right (it is pronounced ‘Dray-jer,’). ‘Dredge’ digs deep; he literally dredges for the truth, hence the epithet.

The Detective 1200 Dreyja short stories are written in the style of the 1950’s Jack Webb ‘Dragnet’ television stories, as 45 minute television episode length works, ideal for those who want a commuter journey length story. The author has also written the full length novel “LAPD Hollywood 121: The Olivia Pages case’ which is also available in the Kindle store.

A number of the themes and aspects of the Detective 1200 stories come from the author’s own experience of seven and a half years Police service and over twenty years of Private Investigation work.

Having seen the Police environment from the inside of the Station House to doing the job on the streets of a busy urban conurbation, the author concludes “Working inside the Police environment, was probably the most enlightening time of my life in many ways, invaluable for me to absorb, learn and stow away scenarios and experiences that I can now do justice to in my writing works.” The author is also a prolific songwriter, musician, photographer and artist outside of his literary interests.
