A Wittgenstein Primer

A contributor on Facebook writes perceptively: 'A review on the US Amazon site is putting readers off. The review suggests it is not a 'Primer'. Perhaps in truth he differs over what Wittgenstein means?'

The Primer contains 136 selected paragraphs from Wittgenstein’s works, chosen precisely to undermine the academic traditional interpretation of his thoughts. Wittgenstein did not want his students to study philosophy – he begged those he knew not to become philosophers.

I am with him – seeing is believing and all that we see we create. Change the world. Do not study philosophy.

Those who ‘teach’ Wittgenstein have captured him and used their position as Wittgensteinian philosophers to deride the Primer. They should be ashamed of not listening to him and read the Primer very carefully.

Because the Primer brings alive the Wittgenstein that his students saw – the amazing mind that presented them with truly unanswerable questions that he used to prove to those who would listen that we have reached the end of philosophy.
