After best-selling birding author Doctor Tom Worthington's wife dies, he and co-author (and photographer) Charles Perrin are sent to finish their last book in a tiny village in England's New Forest where kidnapping, poison and strange cream buns are the order of the day. 

When a television presenter with a hidden agenda sends them on a cross-country made-for-TV birding ‘big list’ the villagers step in to help with loads of imagination, a little skullduggery and a trailer-load of old ladies.
