How to describe it... psychology, magic... a traveler's guide on the journey from self to SELF...
Wonderfully Strange.

First became aware of Dr. Kinnie's work through his now ancient software Magic Mountain, Magic Mirror and Merlin which changed my life (for the better.) Took a lot of doing to find out his name and thus find this book but worth all the time and effort. Currently reading his book Magic Theater which I found used here on Amazon. His work may seem a bit off the beaten track but that's part of it's appeal. Not only has it changed my life for the better but has provided me with a tool kit to continue to do so.

A. Twilight Reality---ride upon the wind
B. Your stable point among the realities--your Self
C. Your Greater Reality---your SELF
D. Freedom and Joy: The Buddha and Lao Tzu, and Harold and Maude
There really is a Reality outside ourselves, and our sensory systems and brain structures give us excellent maps for survival on planet earth. Otherwise our ancestors would have died out long ago. Every human alive has the same basic maps. You don’t jump off high places, you eat when hungry, etc. And on top of the essential maps are an immense number created over the centuries--customs, languages, religious, political and economic creeds, scientific and philosophical theories, etc, etc.
When indoctrinated into a particular group of maps to understand and experience Reality, people become very, very uptight when someone suggests there may be legitimate, alternative maps. In the past those who dared found themselves banished, beheaded and burned at the stake, and more recently re-programmed, sent to mental institutions, denied tenure, blacklisted, bullied and called nasty names, etc. But our age has more freedom than most.
Use that freedom to explore many maps. As you dance among them more and more easily, more and more quickly there will be a magic moment, an epiphany, when you experience quite clearly that your sense of Self is your primary Reality---your stable point among the shifting realities of the world.
As Seth put it: “…you must be clear that your thoughts are not you---you are the Self that has the thoughts. Your beliefs are not you---you are the Self that entertains them.”
Then you become one of the creative and adventurous people of your generation who occasionally think, feel and act outside the trigger words, talking points, and narratives of your time and culture. You become are one of the “golden smithies of the emperor,” as Yates put it, and have the ability to add new thoughts, emotions and actions to the world of humans by dancing the edge between chaos and creativity.
In the East they call that place of great power and adventure the Wu Wei, the Fertile Void.
If you have the interest and courage you can then explore your Greater Reality. You may choose to integrate what you find into a satisfying gestalt using one or more maps of western psychology, or you can choose the world view of Jane Roberts’ Seth. In that tradition your Self is part of a multi-dimensional SELF, that exists in meta-time, and sends Selves into any time period it wishes.
Humans parse Reality in endless ways, and western psychology and Seth are two for you to consider. You are invited to accept one or the other, for now, or use one of your own.
And be sure and spend a little time with The Buddha and Lao Tzu, and Harold and Maude.
