Description

The OGLE database containS over 1,0000,000,000 measurements of more than 40 million objects in the OGLE-II fields so there Is clearly a lot of potential for variable star discoveries to be made via astronomical data mining. There have been a relatively small number of peer-reviewed papers published but many of the light-curves do not seem to have been checked for variability.
I am rather surprised at the lack of support for astronomical data miners provided by the American Association of Variable Stars Observers (AAVSO). It seems as if the movers and shakers within AAVSO are more interested in collecting new, rather than using existing, data.
All of the stars listed are, at the time of writing (January 2012), just waiting for a researcher – you perhaps? – to study them!
