Description
‘Forrest Gump’ cum ‘Into the Wild’. 'The Adventures of a Greenman' is a series of novellas, about the raw travel experiences of a wanderer called Adam, who roams his way around the earth for a decade. Each are drawn entirely from actual events and written as literary non-fiction. This is not a guide, but a journey of self-discovery and often uninhibited creative expression.
In this one: ‘Don’t Shoot! I’m a Backpacker: (Raw Travel Italy)’, Adam finds himself in Sicily, Italy - with only a day pack and a hungry desire to roam the wild. He wanders from his starting point, 'Trapani' and into the surrounding countryside, staying at deserted ruins and foraging exotic fruits in nature.
The nomad is nearing the end of this chapter of adventures, having journeyed in an extreme, raw and hardcore fashion for many years. Gradually, he prepares himself for a more civilised kind of travel. After a very brief spell in England, he heads back out to Italy, near Naples, groomed and equipped with a laptop (computer, not dancer). All ready to begin recording the hundreds of thousand of pages of notes he has, in the unfathomably enormous task of writing a book about his adventures over the last decades, he calls:
'I Travel Light: The Man Who Walked Out of the World'.
Greenman is a dyslexic author of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction. In this series, there are reality novellas on his adventures in: Brazil, France, Spain, India, New Zealand, England, Wales, Eastern Europe, Crete and Italy, and of course: 'I Travel Light: The Man Who Walked Out of the World', which they collectively form. Though his work is edited, his unique style of expressing words is not cut in order to be polished to an un-natural finish.
A 'BBC' presenter recently said of him: “You are the person inside all of us that we wish we could let out from time to time, possibly the most spontaneous traveller I have ever met!†(BBC Radio Berkshire. Sarah Walker, talking to A. Greenman during a live broadcast).
