Description

The life and death of Colonel Mu’ammar al-Kaddafi narrated in verse.

As it runs in the introduction “The president died like a villain because he died fighting his people instead of fighting for them. He sent his army to fight unarmed citizens, who were striking for political change in their country! And, in Benghazi, they shelled houses accommodating men and women of all ages with no pity! The world would not close its eyes at the crime. So the Republic of France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America went into military action against him for the sake of the Libyans. Meanwhile some of his friends attempted to use diplomacy to save his hide together with the souls under the menace of his army. And in vain they did, as the West had been with a grudge against him for long. It was the time to get rid of him once and for all.

But yet, is the infamy which hurled him to his fate the only mark he had had for the years of his rule? Have his friends struggled without reason? After his death he was called either martyr, or hero, or villain in different countries after a souvenir he left them. And some went far as to say he was a victim of the proud Major Power States.
Such an end –that leaves behind so great controversy- is worth being described as it is. The eighty sonnets on the life and the death of Colonel Mu‘ammar al-Kaddafi were penned in remembrance of the eight months from the beginning to the end of the war, which put the term to both his rule and his breath.”

Are highlighted in this book direct and indirect stands of some heads of governments and States during the war in Libya namely Nicolas Sarkozy of France, David Cameroon of the United Kingdom, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton of the United States of America, Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Jacob Zuma and Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Hu Jintao of China, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Angela Markel of Germany, as well as some prominent figures in international organizations like Ban Ki-Moon of the United Nations Organization and Jean Ping of African Union.
Above all the best future of Libya matters more than living in the shackles of the tainted past which might perpetuate hatred and political instability, and it requires smart conscience of leaders as expressed in the sonnets “Justice”, “Leading men”, “Power is a mirror”, etc.

Excerpts:
Nelson Mandela in Libya

He did not forget the friend who, in need,
Had helped in the struggle against the sharks
In the white clothes, but whose hearts wore dark marks.
Mandela, who the Heaven’s angels lead,
Took his long stick and moved along northward.
He advanced with his head held high, grudged
Other friends of his, and he reminded,
“Of my heart no one holds the keys.” They said
Then, “That knight’s steed must always freely hop.
He’s a god abiding in the kingdom
Of love and his right steps no one can stop.”
So Mandela met Mu’ammar at home,
Him he thanked and taught, expecting as crop
More esteem in him to have a good tomb.

Categories of men

The first category is of upright
Men, just and well behaving naturally,
And always would like to do what is right.
They love, and with everyone are friendly.
The second is of those who fear the law
‘Cause it exists. Sometimes they are selfish,
Sometimes remember many a fellow
Live, obey, or the law them would punish.
The third are who take kindness as silly,
Rough and impenitent criminals. Gates
Of their jails should be closed for life. Loyally
The second live while the first should lead States.
But yet, some States are still under the law
Of the jungle: where lead the best at war.
