Reflections After Daniel Quinn

A small book of poetry, vignettes and one long essay, by a University of Texas history graduate, “Reflections After Daniel Quinn” picks up on themes put forward by the author of both the "Ishmael" books and later works that challenge the thrust of our expansionist civilization. This book carries forward into the new century the questioning that Quinn set in motion for the author, two decades ago, by reorienting his understanding of history and its implications about the problems we are experiencing in the present. It is a work of cultural dissent, re-emerging after the political shock of the first millennial decade, back to a wider frame of questioning that, similar to what some sought in the 1960s, asks if it is possible for us to abandon the entire structure- and whether, in the long run, the contradictions of the structure will make it possible for us to take any other course.
