Mom, dad, please try to understand me now!
Description
What does a loving parent look like? Hollywood tells us what love should look like and we usually buy into it. At least most of us are wise enough to know that love means more than spoiling our children.
Still, there are some parents who think that the way to show love is by bringing home lots of sweets, the latest fashions or toys. Many parents have noticed that the toy or whatever was brought home for the child will only have their attention for a short while and then they want something new or something else to play with. What does this tells us? Is the child interested in the latest game or does the child really need our time and love?
We have become a society that looks for tools to keep our children occupied and we often try to show our love by purchasing the biggest, most expensive and flashy equipment for them. Do we want to show off what we are able to purchase? Is there love in such an act?
Simply saying “I love you”, giving them a hug, or a kind word will do more to help them in their development and that is all they really want from us. A toy is nice! But what happens if they receive too many toys? Children will shift their focus on to having stuff instead of needing it. What do we model with this way of living? By spending wisely we can model how they should manage their money in the future.
