The Oat Project, Adventure 1
Description
The Oat Project will be released 1-2 chapters at a time, every 2 weeks, in a return to the most "traditional" form of publishing, the serial.
Four summers ago, several of Jené Jackson's mom-friends were stunned to learn that at 37, she had never been drunk in her life. After hearing of her conservative Christian, preacher’s daughter past, they gleefully made a list of 25 wild oats she’d “missed out†on sowing, thanks to fear of eternal damnation. And so began The Oat Project.
Starting in May 2007, she worked through the 25 tasks on the Oat List over 14 weeks. As she pushed her boundaries of comfort, she also had to manage panic attacks, three children, a husband, and a life. What she thought would be simple fun became an epic voyage, towing her and everyone involved into its current. She faced fears, but lost friends. Her Christian friends begged her to cross off oats they found offensive or morally risky, and to be cautious of non-Christian friends. Her non-Christian friends were not all supportive either, accusing her of trying to recapture her youth, doing things—“at your ageâ€â€”that would teach her children bad life lessons, risking her nice, unquestioned life.
2007 initiated several years of pain and joy as she tried to make sense of all that happened. Go on the journey with her, as she tells the story of her transformation from both perspectives--then and now. She is still learning, still becoming her actual Self; settling into Her, learning how to integrate her wilder side with the now-single mom who bends time to live with integrity and authenticity. This journey is far from over … but it’s time to share it with you, so that you may begin your own journey, encouraged to integrate the Wild, growing, learning, loving, and fully living, right in your own backyard.
