WICCAN FIRE MAGICK

Perhaps one of the Oldest forms of Magick, the concept of using a flame to carry our wishes to the Gods, means that candle magick and candle burning is a modern occult art, a form of sympathetic Magick, that links us back to our Pagan ancestors and was the magick of that most sacred of necessities - Fire!
Fire and Magick is inextricably linked whether it was the fire that burned in the Temples and hearths of our ancient ancestors, to the flames of the scented candles that we use in our homes. From the great Bel fires that greeted each season in, to welcome the Gods and to keep the spirits warmed – to the horrible sight of bonfires on village greens, all across the European continent. Fires used to burn people alive accused of heresy, or the fires that were kept in the torture chambers to extract confessions from accused witches and the fires to which said accused witches were condemned to after they were hung or strangled. Fire has a purifying effect; it makes clean people and situations that have been tarnished over the years by ‗Christian sin‘. Today we understand the Magick of fire far more, it is time for us, Neo-Pagans and modern Wiccans to reclaim the fire of our ancestors and make it into our own Magickal energy once more
