An icy road...sunset ...Minnesota...Charlie Evergood, a editor of a pulp magazine on paranormal phenomena (that he even considers cheesy), is startled by the sudden appearance of a naked girl in his rear view mirror...who whispers "Why did you kill me, Charlie?"...before he loses control on the ice...drives his car over an embankment...suffers a head injury. Problem is that the girl that he saw for only an instant looks exactly like a missing girl, who had an appointment to interview Charlie. Problem is that Charlie continues to see the girl over...and over, as she teases him, plays with his sanity. Problem is that Charlie's alcoholic housemate, Jack, finds blood all over Charlie's best shirt. Problem is that Charlie's old flame, Christine, a psychiatrist starts to realize that Charlie may have more of a connection to the girl in the rearview mirror than his mind is willing to admit.
