by E. Coan & P. Valentich-Scott
2012, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, 2 volumes in slipcase, case bound hard covers, stitched binding, about 21 by 30.5 com (8½ by 11¾ inches) 1258 pages total, includes 326 full page size color photographic plates and 150 drawings.
This book is a worthy companion to the "Bivalve Seashells of Western North America". To call this a monumental work does not give it enough credit. In all there are 5000 color photographs covering 890 species. This work also introduces 3 new genera as well as 15 new species. It is the most complete book that has ever been done on the bivalved shells from this area. It is a book that the authors should be proud of producing and a book that will appeal to both advanced amatuer conchologist and it is a publication that belongs in the library of shell professionals.
