The Spirit of Poetry

Lorenzo Press (www.lorenzopress.com) is proud to announce the publication of THE SPIRIT OF POETRY, a collection of 33 delightfully thought-provoking essays by Anthony S. Maulucci on topics such as Poetry and Mythology, Odes to the Ordinary, The Poetry of Wine, The Poetry of Difficult Love, Why Poetry Prizes Don't Matter, Poetry and Hard Times, and Free Verse: The Format for Writing Dangerously. Essays on the lives and work of Octavio Paz, Kahlil Gibran, John Keats, and some other famous poets are also included. The book is a sequel to Maulucci's popular collection, ON POETRY, The Mysterious Art, published by Lorenzo Press in 2013.


Anthony S. Maulucci has published his poetry in literary journals, magazines and newspapers in the US, Canada, and Mexico. He taught English literature and creative writing at various colleges and universities in Connecticut, including the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford, for over 15 years. The author of four books of poetry, he holds an MA from Wesleyan University and is the winner of the Jordan Davidson Poetry Prize. He currently lives in San Miguel de Allende.
