Total Language Plus: Shiloh Student Study Guide

Total Language Plus is an integrated, literature-based program, which means all of our language arts activities are inspired by the novel. The vocabulary and spelling words, writing assignments, and discussion questions are all from the story. Our lessons and activities stress mastery learning, rather than short-term memorization, and we use movement as a teaching tool. Shiloh is a book worth reading. Both girls and boys relate to the dilemma Marty faces regarding the abused beagle that comes to him for help. It is a treat to read about an intact, loving family and watch Marty grow as he faces the consequences of his choices. Beginning third graders will be challenged by the spelling/vocabulary words. Fourth graders should find the work less advanced. Most fifth graders will find it fun and entertaining.
