Stolen Cars

Four years as a Ranger, followed by three in prison, Nick Stallman just wants to be left alone to do his job as a bartender in a small town bar called The Hard Right, but people won't let him be. Everyone wants to dump their problems on the head bartender and beer psychologist.
Nick's life is filled with characters. Whether it's his rapacious ex-girlfriend Addison--who is married to a wealthy older man of mysterious out-of-town means--who randomly appears in his bed late at night; or his childhood friend, Ryan, who claims they are really brothers and constantly makes dubious decisions which lead to trouble--especially for Nick; or the nameless customer with the scarred, flattened knuckles and the circular dent in his forehead who randomly quotes the Bible and Machiavelli with equal reverence, they, plus many others return to The Hard Right time and time again.
Trying to settle into a quiet, mundane existence becomes even more complicated when a young woman arrives in the midst of a torrential rain; her car broken down and dead in the street and a cell phone buzzing relentlessly. This new arrival drags the chains of a past that won't let her go and a trouble to the small town and The Hard Right like it's never seen before.
