Description
The Horses That Went to Heaven is a collection of short stories and flash fiction based on visionary events experienced by the author while she journeyed the North American continent with her Medicine Elder. In each story, the central characters are profoundly influenced by the natural environment, where the wisdom of cooperation and appreciation is revealed. The underlying theme behind all the stories is our interconnectedness with the natural world how it teaches us by example to be what we were created to be. These stories are intended for readers of all ages. They will leave you with a smile, feeling intrigued and even inspired.
“Each one of these stories is based on an actual event. ‘The Horses That Went to Heaven’ was a story written for a contest on CBC Radio, for which I won the prize. ‘The Junipine’ was written after my first visit to Sedona, Arizona, as was ‘Grandfather’s Corn’ and ‘Rose Rabbit and the Creation of the Universe’. ‘The Story of Dances with Trees’ came to me when I spent time in the mountains of North Carolina with the rhododendron trees.
The most important point in the stories is the fact we, as human beings have the ability to create the world as we want it to be. Our minds and thoughts are powerful. They create the body chemistry and electromagnetic ‘stamp’ that literally cause the materialization of the life events we experience. All of nature responds by providing the environment our thoughts command. So, in the vast field of potential, we have unlimited possibilities.
I dedicate this collection of stories to my Elder, Grandmother Pa'Ris'Ha.â€
