The war has given opportunity to add knowledge and experience to many of the medical problems which were having consideration before this period, and this is particularly so in the Physiotherapies. The value of this feature of treatment, as well as its more accurate and intelligent application, had a marked impetus by the excellent work with its results done in England, France, and Canada, and the very large number of cases requiring these measures for prolonged periods emphasized the results which may be expected by it. I ts use after acute infections and in the after-treatment of fractures and nerve injuries has been placed on an entirely new plane, and the different forms of the Physiotherapies have had the test of their comparative value by this experience. All of this has given opportunity for compiling the knowledge gained during this period and for formulating the various methods of its use, as well as for estimating the comparative value of the various forms.
