Fate

London: a quiet street in Knightsbridge, the hush of wealth and privilege all around. In the gathering darkness of an October evening, a small man in the uniform of the Royal Mail knocks on the front door of the high-security mansion of banker Jeremy Frobisher and tells the servant he has a package for Mr. Frobisher which he must sign for. While signing his name a big, powerfully built man, his face covered with a balaclava, bursts into the hall and stabs Frobisher through the heart. His wife, Tamara, hearing the commotion runs down the stairs to help her husband but trips on her long evening gown and falls face down on the floor. Before she can get up, the big man is astride her, stabbing her repeatedly in the back.
On the landing above, a little girl starts to scream as she stares through the banisters at the hall below. The big man turns, sees her, and in an instant is running up the stairs two at a time, his bloodstained knife glinting in the light of the chandelier…
