In 1949, George Orwell’s vision of a dystopian future, 1984, was published. The world Orwell described was one of totalitarian control. Through the use of video cameras, wiretapping, and secret spies, the government’s Thought Police administered an omnipresent surveillance state,
collecting information on enemies, both real and imagined. What did one have to do to be considered an “enemy of the state”? He only need pose even the tiniest threat to the government’s agenda of disinformation and total control.

In 2012, 1984 has arrived. Or if it hasn’t, it soon will.
