“Now each of you will put your weapons on the ground one at a time when I tell you. Do I make myself clear?†the State Trooper instructed the group moving his aim from one person to the other.
“That is not going to happen officer,†Bruce said. “We came for some water and food, then we were going to leave. But if you will not give us any we will just leave anyway,†he finished.
“Did you not hear me, punk? You will lay down your weapons now. I have been given orders to execute anyone not complying with my orders. No more arrest I can kill you,†The State Trooper calmly said smiling at Bruce.
This book is a no holds barred about the end of civilization and is not for the faint of heart. The language and actions are harsh even by the main characters. It is my portrayal of what it would take to survive in an event of this magnitude. It deals with the harsh reality of those that pray on the weak when no one is around to save and protect them. There is humor, honor, family and hope in this series because a world without these is another name for hell. The world has seen small scale deterioration from disasters nothing on the scale of this series and hopefully won’t. If you don’t think society would not break down like this then you are sorely mistaken. Bad people are everywhere in our society. Could you trust your neighbor if they were starving or scared to leave you alone or help protect your family?
