Diplomacy has failed, compromise could not be reached, and egos prevailed over common sense. America was now at war with itself. Every death, every injury, would be an American one. Over the course of the conflict, more Americans would die than during all the other wars in our history combined.
California, trying to remain neutral, suddenly finds it is under attack from Mexico. The Mexican government seizes the opportunity to regain territory while the rest of America is engaged in the second Civil War.
The newly formed American Republic calls on Canada to broker a peace settlement to end the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of American lives. Unfortunately the conference does not achieve the desired end to the conflict. With the devastation escalating, there is a desperate need for someone to come forward with a rational solution to end the hostilities. Can sanity be regained before one side or the other resorts to nuclear weapons?
