Storming Heaven

In this, Twilley's second work, "Storming Heaven," events shift to an area of California near Carmel by the Sea, during the first part of millennium, at a time during which accusations of priestly improprieties emerged in the Roman Catholic Church. Sister Catherine is called by Beth Collins, a childhood friend and sister of a former sweetheart of Sister Catherine during their college days. Now a priest, Father John is missing. His sister's urgent request summons the nun to California in the hopes of finding her brother alive. There have been other priests who disappeared and later found dead. Beth pleaded with Sister Catherine to prevent a fourth death by finding who had kidnapped him. Upon her arrival, however, Sister Catherine notes other priorities in Beth's life take front stage before looking for her brother can even be investigated. Fortunately, a mutual friend and private investigator works behind the scenes, especially when Sister Catherine herself is abducted and also disappears.
