Roberto “Berto†Castillo, police captain par excellance and partner of a German Shepherd trailing dog is the protagonist of these three action-adventure romance novels. As a detective with the La Vista Police Department he experiences the trauma of losing his detective companion to a sniper’s bullet. The Police Chief suggests that he take on a German Shepherd K-9 trailing dog as his next partner.
He visits the Police K-9 Training School and selects a marvelous young dog, Franz, that has been highly trained in Germany. This duo becomes famous throughout the country for its rescues of children and adults who have been lost, kidnapped, wounded, etc. In addition, the duo takes on the Cartel de las Amazonas that is the scourge of the country as it sells the addictive cocaine throughout América Latina. The Cartel’s hideaway is deep in the Amazon Rainforest. A three-day march will get you there if you can survive the jaguars, cougars, anaconda and boa constrictor snakes, coral snakes, etc. Without an immediate antidote, a bite from this latter snake that is highly poisonous will cost you your life in horrible pain.
Leading a group of Army parachutists to stop the Cartel forever, Berto shows the way as they parachute onto the Rainforest canopy of trees and vines that are 100 feet above the ground.
Because of their abilities and example as an outstanding K-9 Team, Berto is selected to be the Superintendent of the Police K-9 School. Being the only such school in the South American Country of Andino places a heavy responsibility on Berto’s shoulders. The dogs trained there can follow the scent cone of a person moving through the trees or mountains or sniff out illicit drugs or dynamite hidden in a suitcase or on a person. At an average of 62-80 pounds with the females weighing at the lower end of the scale, these marvelous German Shepherd dogs react to a wide vocabulary of commands, including the one that puts the most fear into a criminal, “sic ‘em, sic ‘em.â€
