Pugnacious, the Practical Joking Cat

Pug’s full name is Pugnacious; he’s a fat, long-furred, tatty (but adorable) tomcat who revels in bringing home ‘smelly’ presents for his master to find each evening when he returns home. On a difficult day the present can be a live rat or a slightly chewed mouse, on a good day (like today) an old pair of soiled underpants make an excellent present!
Pug and his master (who Pug calls ‘man-friend’) lived together happily for years until his man-friend found a new pet to love.
Suddenly Pug’s presents are ignored, the house is filled with new, strange smells and noises and the big new pet takes Pug’s place in the warmth of his master’s bed. Pug tries to chase the new pet away but soon realises that he is no longer loved so, broken hearted and feeling that he is not wanted, Pug leaves home.

“Pug knew now that he was not wanted. He slowly strolled to the back door and pushed his head through the flap. The thump made the door shake and Pug’s head rattle, the flap was locked, Pug had never in his whole life been locked out of his house.”

So Pug slips out one day and walks slowly away into the cold rain, not caring where he goes or that his fur is soon bedraggled and he is starting to shiver.
