The Lights of Kothar (The Kotharian Sheef Book 1)

Alex Grey is the project director for Aquarius, and underwater community of scientists and technicians working on the Renaissance Project, an effort to expedite adapting to the climate change of the last 200 years. He and his new wife, Elaine, have their honeymoon interrupted by a visit from a world-famous scientist, Anatoly Heinek, who is working on his own mysterious project.

Thanks to Dr. Heinek's visit, Alex and Elaine are faced with an other-worldly visitor who involves them in the social and political struggles of his world.
