Description
“So—why?” Cyrus held out his hands, palms-up pleading.
“It's really been a dream of mine.” Her eyes widened. “I'm into racing. But I've peaked. As a runner I can't do more. My body just can't go faster.”
“So you wanted to use mine?” Cy balled the toes on his feet. There were so many things he wanted to say right now. “What were you thinking?” was the mildest. And in the back of his mind was, “How did you do it?”
He clenched his toes tighter.
She nodded, and smiled again. “I didn't think you'd mind.”
“Yes, I have always said that I would do anything for you. But I'm not sure it would have included this.”
Cyrus felt the room lower a few degrees. He felt fear in his stomach slowly rise. He studied his face, he was getting used to the awkwardness now, of seeing him, this doppelganger, devil-self across the room, talking nonsense.
“There is this race I need to run. To prove it to myself that I can do it. It’s in three months. Let me use your body, train in it, and see how I can do. To see if I can reach the next level.”
She blinked, then smiled. “Of course, I don’t have my boobs anymore. But that’s sacrifice, right?”
