Me-aat A Modern Fable of Ancient Egypt

Nobody knows where or when the first cat hitched its star to the Human race. It was almost certainly long before the first Pharaoh unified upper and lower Egypt at the start the Old Kingdom. Yet it is also likely that more than one of the ancient race of wildcats in distant places and over long periods of time, made the same decision. Ancient Egypt was chosen as the setting for this story mostly because a great deal more is known about the Old Kingdom than about the Neolithic cultures that existed when the very first cat domesticated itself. But the reasons are seldom mentioned.
