Women and Gold

Women and Gold is the story of three best friends; Shawn Brooks, Billy Clennon and Mark Milton, who bond as young boys in their sterile suburban neighborhood during the early 60’s. As they become the “Red B‘s“ and then “blood brothers”, their mischievousness childhood turns into a rebellious adolescence during the social upheaval of the late 60’s and early 70’s.

Their individual lives grow together and then come apart as they follow separate paths of self discovery while moving headlong into the compelling and conflicting elements of their time: radical politics, college, war, spirituality, sex, AIDS, money, drugs and rock and roll.

The story is written through the eyes of Shawn as he struggles through the years, desperately trying to find himself and his truth, in a world that pulls him in many diverse directions, while his friends Billy and Mark pursue their own paths of triumph and tragedy.

Their three lives, at times, intersect and then conflict, while they move through their 20’s and 30’s, but ultimately form a tapestry of experience that reflects the primary aspects of the dynamic and tumultuous era in which they came of age.
