Description
When Daphne Tierney, daughter of a newspaper baron, decides to become a journalist, her straitlaced and conventional fiance' forbids her to do so. It is 1878 and Daphne, reared on the principles of the "modern" woman, calls off the wedding. She then sets out alone on the train for the snow covered mountains of Colorado to do a story on a restaurant mogul and the girls he is hiring to work for him.
However, before she reaches Denver, she quite literally tumbles from her berth into the arms of the handsome and bold Reed Travers. Heir to a railroad fortune, Reed stands wrongly accused of train robbery. Daphne, attracted to Reed as she never was to her fiance', soon finds herself running from the ruthless toughs hired by Reed's dead father's partner, who wants Reed eliminated. In their search for proof of Reed's innocence, they find in each other the love of a life time.
Originally published by Pocket Books in 1988, DAPHNE was a Romantic Times award winner for Best Historical, Love and Laughter and was also considered by Aaron Spelling Productions for a TV movie.
